Greta and Seumas hosted a super joyful and elegant wedding day at the gorgeous Carberry Tower in Musselburgh. Since Seumas is in the military, he was dressed in full military kilt and the couple incorporated a Guard of Honour exit from the church. I got to know these two at a pre-wedding photo session in St. Andrews. Like many others they had to rearrange plans due to the pandemic, so I was very happy to capture all the details of their special day.
Jennifer and Donny's South Queensferry Wedding
Jennifer and Donny met during their very first week as university students. Their relationship would bring them on many adventures, including moving to New Zealand before returning to live together in Scotland. Their wedding took place at Orocco Pier in South Queensferry, on a beautiful sunny day overlooking the Firth of Forth and the iconic Forth Rail Bridge. I loved spending the day with these two, taking pictures on the picturesque main street with all the colorful buildings.
Laura and Curtis's Gosford House Wedding
Laura is Scottish, Curtis is Canadian and, like many couples during the Covid era, planning a wedding with all the restrictions was tough. But despite postponements and international family unable to physically attend the wedding, these two came through all the challenges to host a beautiful, intimate wedding at Gosford House in East Lothian. The wedding marked the end to long distance dating for the couple and Curtis’s family in Canada were able to join in via web call. Gosford House only has a handful of weddings each year, so I was honored to be able to photograph in such a gorgeous space and around the wonderful grounds.
Seumas and Greta's St. Andrews Engagement
Greta and Seumas both attended St. Andrews University, but despite mutual friends between them and even having attended the same events and parties, they did not meet each other until they were both living in Edinburgh a few years later. They hit it off and the rest is history. Because of their connection to the university, St. Andrews was the perfect place for their engagement photo session. Seumas is in the army and was set to deploy a couple weeks later, coming back for their wedding next summer. I’m so happy we were able to arrange this day to capture their love story in a place that is so special to both of them.
Eleanor and Eoin's Dynamic Earth Wedding
Eleanor and Eoin are one of my 2020 clients whose bigger wedding plans were disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. I had seen them at the end of February for their engagement session, just a few weeks before lockdown happened. To keep everyone safe, they’ve rescheduled their big party for next summer, but still wanted to get legally married this year. So on the date their big wedding would have been taking place, they had an elopement-style ceremony with an intimate gathering of close family members and friends at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh. The day was completely lovely, with slices of cake and champagne, and a bride & groom portrait session in adjacent Holyrood Park. I’m looking forward to photographing their reception next year, but am so glad that I could be there this summer to capture their marriage.
Gemma and Garry's George Hotel Wedding
Gemma and Garry were such a lovely couple with whom to work and their Edinburgh city center wedding, taking place at the Intercontinental George Hotel, right in the heart of the city, was a classy affair and lots of fun to photograph. From the bagpiper announcing their entrance to the lucky six pence that Gemma put into her shoe for good luck to the charms Gemma tied around her bouquet featuring pictures of beloved relatives, their wedding was filled with personal touches that will stay in my mind for a long time. I wish them many happy years together as husband and wife.
Kellie and Seonaid's Pentland Hills Engagement
Seonaid is from the Scottish Highlands, but met Kellie when she was living and working in Australia. They spent time traveling all around Australia before settling on Edinburgh as home. We met up on a gorgeous autumnal day, with crisp air and the leaves changing colors, for their engagement session in the Pentland Hills, just outside the city. I’m looking forward to photographing their Edinburgh wedding next summer.
Jasmine and Steven's GG's Yard Wedding
Jasmine and Steven’s wedding took place on the west coast of Scotland at the gorgeous venue, GG’s Yard, with its stunning light and views of the sea. The day was non-stop joy from start to finish and I really loved all the personalized details they incorporated, like Jasmine’s bride purse, the Scottish ceremonial quaich and the customized bridesmaids robes. We slipped away down to the quiet, rocky beach for bride & groom portraits and in front of some amazing hydrangeas at their peak bloom. So romantic.
Jasmine & Steven's Loch Leven Engagement
Wedding season is in full swing and with the spring weather in Scotland so mild this year we were lucky to get a perfect, sun-soaked day for Jasmine and Steven’s Loch Leven engagement session. As I start to settle in to my new life in Scotland, photography is a great way to explore the parts of this wonderful country I haven’t yet gotten to see. I’m looking forward to much more of that! Steven grew up in Kinross so it was fitting to set their engagement session there and include their dog, Penny, who was a delightful ball of energy. I’m excited about their wedding later in the summer on the west coast of Scotland!
